Models

This page contains multimedia files of chemical structures used in Chem 341. These are provided in several formats. In order to download any of the files to your hard drive, right click (Windows) or ctrl-click (Mac) and select to save it on your computer.

PDB (protein data bank) files can be visualized and manipulated in many ways. In Windows you can install a plugin called Chime from MDL that will display the PDB files in your browser. Note that the only Chime plugin for Mac is for OS 9 version of Netscape 4.7. (Boo to MDL for dropping Mac support) You can find more information about the CHIME plugin here. You need to register to download the free plugin.

There are a number of different PDB viewer applications that are freely available for both Mac and Windows. You can find many of them on this WEB PAGE list.

The software I used to present the models in class is Chimera developed by the University of California at San Francisco. You can find more information about CHIMERA Here. Versions are available for Windows, Mac OS X, IRIX, and Linux.

QUICKTIME Movies I have put some animations together as quicktime movies. These can be viewed in a browser or on your computer using Apple's free Quicktime software for Mac and PC's.
