Perfluorinated Organic Compounds may reduce efficiency of vaccines

The perfluorinated compounds, PFOA and PFOS are compounds used in non-stick and water repellent coatings for fabrics and cookware. Recent studies indicate that these compounds, which can be environmental pollutants, interfere with the efficiency of vaccines. Children given inoculations against diphtheria and tetanus that have been exposed to perfluorinated compounds had a lower response in producing antibodies to the vaccines.
